1. Start with an example
The first-video chooser recommends a format for numbers, connected charts, timelines or photos. Pick YouTube or Shorts, then create an account and confirm your email. Your selection stays with you.
2. Edit Content
Replace the title and example entries. A data connection is optional. Import CSV or JSON when you already have a table, or choose a supported source. For slideshows, upload several photos at once.
3. Choose a Style
Choose a visual style and optional music. On a phone, switch between Edit content and Watch preview without scrolling through every setting. All settings opens the extra controls for narration, captions and thumbnails.
4. Export an MP4
Play the preview and check the values, source dates and spelling. Select Create MP4, then download the video and thumbnail when they are ready. Nothing is posted to a channel automatically.
Common questions
Does previewing use my video allowance?
No. Editing and previewing do not start a render. A render accepted into the queue uses one video from your account allowance, which is shown beside the export controls. Cancelled renders do not count; failed renders currently do.
Where is my draft saved?
The Studio keeps a draft on this browser and device. Select Save to keep a project in your account for later. A restored draft is labelled when you reopen the editor. Browser storage is not a backup; save important projects to your account.
Why can I edit but not export?
You may still need to confirm your email, or your video allowance may be used up. The export area explains which applies. It also provides a resend button for confirmation emails.
Do I need to configure a data source?
No, not to try an example or enter your own data. A source marked as unavailable needs setup by the site operator. Choose an available connection or continue manually. See the source directory for provider requirements.
Which files can I upload?
Data files can be CSV or JSON. Images must be PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF and under 10 MB. Audio must be MP3, WAV, M4A or OGG and under 25 MB. Export an Excel or Google Sheets table as CSV before importing it.
How should I format a CSV?
For a ranking, use name,value columns. Common names such as Product,Revenue also work. In Data cards, Wealth city or Growing balls, a ranking uses that selected format. Elsewhere it opens as Data cards. For a bar chart race, use name,2023,2024,2025 with one item per row. The import tells you which cell needs correction if a value is missing or not numeric. Set the unit after importing; VideoMason does not assume dollars or billions.
Can I edit the points in a line chart?
Yes. Open Content and the Countries or series section. Edit the period labels and the numbers in Chart values. Add a period to all series at once. Complete every value before previewing or exporting, and keep the same periods across the comparison.
Why was a remote image rejected?
For privacy and render safety, public web addresses are disabled by default. Download the image you have permission to use, then upload it to your private Asset library.
How long are exports kept?
Exports are automatically removed after the workspace retention period, which defaults to seven days. Download finished work you want to keep.
Why is narration unavailable?
The workspace owner controls which voice providers are enabled. Provider usage may be limited to prevent unexpected charges.
What happens if generation stops?
Your project remains editable. Check the message, reduce very large projects if needed, and select Create MP4 again. The button is disabled while a request is starting so repeated clicks do not queue duplicate exports.
